How to do a Lash Lift and Tint

Have you been thinking of adding Lash Lift and Tint to your services and wondering where to start? Or perhaps you want to get started in the beauty industry and start offering lash treatments to real clients? Here’s everything you need to know about Lash Lift and Tint.

A Lash Lift is like a perm for your eyelashes that alters the shape and colour of your lashes adding length and shape. It is not like a lash extension as it works with the lashes in their natural state.

Before starting your Lash Lift, you apply plastic shields to the eyelids and the eyelashes are temporarily fixed onto them. This is to hold the lashes in place for applying the lifting and setting lotion.

How does a Lash Lift work? It is a three-stage process. Firstly, a lifting solution is applied to the eyelashes, followed by a setting solution, finished by a tint.

The lifting solution contains Hydrogen, which oxidises when it comes into contact with the air. This oxidation breaks down the disulfide bonds in each eyelash, releasing the hair for shaping. The setting solution reconnects these bonds, sealing each hair into its new shape. And lastly, the tint is applied to make the lashes appear thicker and darker.

A Lash Lift should not damage the lashes if it is done properly, however, unfortunately there are some inexperienced or poorly trained Lash Artists making common mistakes leaving clients with burned or frazzled lashes. By ensuring you are following your training guidelines and educating your clients on the correct aftercare, you will not cause any damage to your clients’ lashes.

It is recommended to have a Lash Lift every 6-8 weeks with minimal maintenance making it a great addition to your service list and will keep you busy with regular clients.
