6 ways to optimise your beauty business Instagram profile

Instagram is an amazing platform for finding new clients in your local area and for new clients to come across you. Your profile is the first thing they look at before deciding to get in touch with you, so it is important that it is optimised in order for you to get more leads, and ultimately more clients!

Profile picture

Lots of people use their company logo for their profile picture, however, I would recommend that you use this to show the face or faces behind the business. People connect with people and potential clients want to know who is behind the account. You will also be more memorable to them!

‘Name’ section

Make sure you put in here some keywords that your target audience would actually search for as this means your profile will show up higher in search results. For example if you are a nail technician in Manchester, you could add ‘Gel Nails Manchester’. Give it a go!

Bio

Someone should be able to understand at first glance of your bio exactly what you offer and other key information. If you are someone who offers a lot of beauty treatments it’s likely you won’t have space to fit them all into your bio as there is a character limit of 150! Instead you could explain how your clients will feel after coming to you, for example, “Luxury beauty treatments to make you feel more relaxed and pampered”.

Call to action (CTA)

It is so important that you add a link to your website or online booking page and it is equally as important that you direct people there. Add a line of text above your website (so this will be the last line of text in your bio) telling people how to book. If you don’t yet have a website or booking system, simply put in something like “Get in touch for an appointment” to encourage your potential customers to take that next step.

Highlights

Your highlights are an opportunity to showcase your work, share more information about you and your business, and share customer reviews. You can also share your prices, policies, any tagged stories so people can see you work straight from the source, as well as your contact information and any FAQs. If you are someone who doesn’t have a website, this is a perfect way to share more about your business. You could also create some highlight covers in Canva to make them all on brand!

Brand kit

Use the same colour palette, fonts, and style on your profile so that you are more memorable and people will instantly recognise your posts. Think of your profile as your digital shop front and be consistent with your branding.
