How to start your beauty business
Do you want to get started in the beauty industry and have your own beauty business?
As someone who has been in the beauty business world for quite a while now there are many things I have learned along the way about how to get started and build your beauty business and I want to share them with you.
I know that it can be overwhelming at the outset as it feels like there is a lot to think about and it is true that there is, however that isn’t to say it is not manageable.
The best thing to do is to break the elements down and tackle them one by one. In this blog I have put together a simple checklist for you to work through so you can get started on building the beauty business of your dreams!
Business Name and Brandings
First of all, have a think about what you want to call your business and do some research into the type of branding you like. You can research different types of branding styles and logos on Pinterest and even check out some branding accounts on Instagram for inspiration. Think about the colours and fonts you will use to promote your business and start setting up your social media pages with your new business name – exciting!
Decide on Treatments
What treatments are you going to offer? Will you do solely nails or will you offer beauty treatments too? A way to answer these questions is to think about what you are really interested in and have a genuine love for. There is no point in doing something if you don’t have any passion for it!
Research Training Providers
Next up you will need to get trained. When you are looking for a training provider, consider factors like the cost, how far away the courses are, do they have good reviews, and you could even speak to people who have also trained there to see what they thought about it and whether they would recommend it.
Book Your Courses
This is such an exciting step! You will need qualifications so that you can work on real clients, and get your all-important insurance. You of course also need to learn how to do each treatment and provide the best service possible to your clients.

Buy Your Kit
One of the final steps is to choose which brands you will use and purchase your kit. Your training provider will likely be able to provide you with some guidance in this area but you should also do your own research.
Get Insurance
This one is so important! Before working on any clients, even if they are models, you need to have insurance to cover you and your clients. We recommend PolicyBee and you can get your own personalised quote. Click here!
